At the time of this writing, we are anticipating a move. In my opinion, buying and selling property and moving is one of the more stressful experiences in life. The paperwork, the waiting on paperwork, the packing and cleaning to be done all while trying to keep up with the every day responsibilities. One might get a little anxious thinking about all that.

And that is where I found myself a few days ago. And isn’t it just like God that I would read exactly what I needed to hear as I am just following along in my Bible reading plan?

Isaiah 55:2 Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread, and your labor for that which does not satisfy?

The note in my study Bible mentioned unbelief relating to this verse. This reminded me of Jesus’s words in the sermon on the mount:

“Do not be anxious.”

That’s Matthew 6:25, 31, and 34.

Why spend effort on something worthless (anxiety, worry, unbelief)? What is the answer?

But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, -Matthew 6:33

How do I do that? Look at the second part of Isaiah 55:2:

Listen diligently to me, and eat what is good, and delight yourselves in rich food.

We listen diligently to Him by spending time with Him in His Word! When we delight in that “rich food” it is so much easier to fight against all that worthless stuff!
