I recently began something new in my prayer time concerning people I may not know very well, but want to pray for. I am taking a Scripture from the Sunday sermon or at least a principle/theme based on that Scripture, and praying that throughout the week for my prayer list.

For example, at our church we have just begun a sermon series in the book of Acts. The first week, it stuck with me that this Kingdom was advancing through the teaching of the Scriptures (as opposed to force). So I prayed for each of us to be seeking to further the Kingdom by teaching the Word.

The next week included Acts 1:14:

All these with one accord were devoting themselves to prayer, together with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and his brothers.

So I prayed that we would be devoted to prayer.

And this week from Acts 1:25, Judas is described as one who “turned aside to go to his own place.” So my prayer is that we would not turn aside and seek our own way, but would continually be seeking God, His ways, and His plan.

Just something simple we can do to keep what we hear on Sunday mornings fresh, and apply it throughout the week!

Happy Monday,

Kimberly
